HEALTH RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT
The team at Be Active Hampshire are dedicated to supporting you in taking every opportunity to improve your health. With this in mind, we have carefully considered what we can reasonably expect of each other.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
We will make every reasonable effort to ensure the equipment and facilities we use are in a safe condition for you to use and enjoy.
We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that each session/venue has an appointed first aider.
If you tell us that you have a disability which puts you at a substantial disadvantage when participating or accessing facilities, we will consider what reasonable adjustments, if any, can be made.
YOUR COMMITMENT TO US
You should not exercise beyond your own abilities. If you know or are concerned that you have a medical condition which might interfere with your ability to exercise, you must seek advice from a relevant medical professional before participating and follow that advice. Exercise carries its own risks. Do not carry out any activities which you’ve been told are not suitable for you.
You should familiarise yourself with all rules and instructions, including safety notices. Let us know immediately if you feel unwell during a session. Our staff are not medically trained, but a trained first aider will be available. You may be advised to seek further medical attention.
If you have a disability, please follow any reasonable instructions provided to support your safe participation.
This statement is for guidance only. It is not a legally binding agreement between you and us and does not create any obligations which you or we must meet.
YOUR READINESS FOR EXERCISE PARTICIPATION
Your informed consent for participation in physical activity, sessions or events with Be Active Hampshire.
All sessions are designed to let you moderate your activity level and participate only as much as you feel comfortable with. You may work at a higher level of exertion than usual, which could lead to quicker breathing, increased heart rate, and some short-term soreness in muscles or joints.
If at any point you feel pain or discomfort, stop the activity and inform your instructor. Be Active Hampshire instructors are not trained to offer injury advice.
Please inform your instructor if there is any reason you should not take part in an activity (e.g. illness or injury that could be aggravated). If you’re unsure, speak with your GP or another health professional beforehand and follow any advice given.
You understand that any exercise or diet and lifestyle coaching provided is not a diagnosis, prescription, or treatment for any medical condition and is not a substitute for regular medical care.
Activities will be explained to you, and it’s your responsibility to determine whether you can safely take part. Feel free to ask questions in person, by phone or email.
You are free to withdraw from any session at any time.
Being physically active is generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, some individuals should consult a doctor before beginning a new exercise programme.
When registering with Be Active Hampshire, you’ll be asked to share personal information such as medical conditions and medications. This information is stored securely and only accessed in the event of an emergency. Be Active Hampshire instructors are not medically trained and will not use this information to assess your suitability for activity.
If advised by a health professional about what types of activity you can do, it is your responsibility to follow that guidance.
By participating in Be Active Hampshire, you confirm you are not doing so against medical advice.
